The perfect date

"I am missing you a lot today. I don’t know why." said A on the phone.

My heart felt heavy after listening to him. It had been almost 6 months since we met. We had got engaged 7 months ago. After the engagement we had only met once in our hometown. I am working in Hyderabad and he in Bangalore. We had planned to meet again for my birthday, but my father in law met with an accident and had a fracture. He was advised bed rest for 3 months, so the plan got cancelled.. After this incident, we just had to be satisfied with phone calls and occasional Skype calls. I was dying to meet him.

I felt tears in my eyes, when I heard his tired and helpless voice. He could not leave Bangalore to come and meet me because his father needed him. After talking with him for a few minutes, I disconnected the call as it was dinner time. After dinner I went to my room and sat thinking. A plan was forming in my mind. I opened my laptop and checked the flight information to Bangalore for Friday. There was a flight leaving to Bangalore at 3:00 PM. Without thinking any further, I booked the ticket. I felt elated. I was planning to give a surprise to A. I would be landing in Bangalore at 5:00 PM. After landing I would directly go to his office and wait for him outside. I smiled thinking about the look on A's face when he sees me.

Finally, after an impatient wait, Friday arrived. A had no idea what I was up to. I left office early that day and directly went to the airport and boarded the flight to Bangalore. I landed at Bangalore at 5:00 PM and took a cab to A's office. It was not difficult to locate his office as it was a well known land mark.

I got down near his office and saw a cafe just opposite to it. I entered it and called A.

 "Hello Princess".

 "Hey was sup? Busy?"

"Nope almost done. Will be leaving in a few minutes."

"Ohkay..would you please care to come to the cafe opposite to your office?"

"What?? Are you here in Bangalore??"

"Yes I am here. Now come soon. I am dying to meet you"

"I will kill you if this is a joke"

"Ha-ha..no need for that. I am really here. Can’t wait to see you. Come soon"

He immediately disconnected the call saying that he will be there in a few minutes.  After about 5 minutes of wait which felt like an eternity, A entered the cafe. The minute he spotted me, the expression on his face changed from disbelief to pure elation. He started moving towards me and I got up from my seat. Without minding the crowd, he just came near me and lifted me off my feet, all the while thanking me for coming. He finally put me down and we hugged like there’s no tomorrow. There was a big gang of college goers in the cafe and they all started clapping looking at us. It was then we realized that we were in a public place. We just drew apart and left the cafe. 

We came out side and A held my hand and said "Thank you sooo much for coming princess. You have no idea how happy I am". "I know A. The distance between us was killing me. So I just thought of giving you a surprise. So here I am". "That is why I love you so much. So, where do you want to go now Princess?”

"Wherever you wanna take me"

It was a glorious evening. The sun was just setting and it cast a heavenly orange glow everywhere. We got into his car. I had no idea where he was taking me and it didn't matter as long as I was with him. We just drove for an hour, talking all the time. Then I realized we were going towards Nandi hills. After reaching at the top of the hill, he parked the car and we got down. The view from that spot was amazing. It was a full moon day and the moon was visible in its full glory. We just stood there gazing at the moon for a long time. He turned towards me and caressed my face. He tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear and whispered  "You are looking beautiful". Suddenly without warning he kissed me. It was not a soft kiss, but a hungry passionate one.

The way he kissed me showed how much he was longing to see me. I kissed him back with equal fervor. At that moment, everything stood still. I just wanted to capture that moment and keep it close to my heart forever. I loved this man and I was really happy I made the decision to come here.

After a long time, we drew apart and stood gazing at each other.

We just sat there ,holding hands. I felt happy and peaceful to be with him. We had a yummy dinner at a road side dhaba. Finally it was time for me to leave. He came to drop me at the airport. We said our good byes and I tried hard to hide my tears. I recalled everything while sitting in the flight and thought that this was a perfect date. Nothing extravagant, but still very special and I would cherish it forever.
